Tell me about your "FINEST" work:

2/5/2013

Think back over all the work you have done in classes you have had during the past few years.  Think of all the papers and projects you've done in your classes... anything...such as book reviews, poems, paintings, essays, research papers or hands on projects. Of all these things, think of one do you consider to be the one you feel proudest of having created or what you'd consider an example of your "finest" work. Please feel free to select something done at any time in your education... this year, last year, or whatever.

1. Please write a brief description of this paper or project. (What it was, when did you do it, and in what class did you do it?)

2. Why did you choose this paper or project? (What do you like about it?)

3. Do you still have it? If yes, where is it and in what form? Like, is it a paper in your closet at home or is it on a disk?

4. How many people have you shown it to since the time you created it?

5. Was it ever published, like in the school newspaper, or shown at an exhibit of some kind?

6. Anything else you want to say about it?

I would say my finest work would be designing pages for the Stockbridge High School yearbook. It takes a lot of effort and editing and I believe that is a great achievement. The 2013 yearbook has not been published yet, but when it does it will be sold to the whole stuent body if wanted. Seeing my own work published and for everyone else to see my work is very rewarding.

The finest work that I have completed in high school has been my leadership portfolio. The assignment was to create a portfolio to show all of the accomplishments and activities you have done throughout high school. This project was the final exam in my leadership class that I took in the spring of 2012 at Stockbridge High School.

The reason I chose this project is because I received one of the best grades on it. This was one of my first major projects that required extensive time and effort which I am proud of.

I do still have my portfolio. I constantly keep adding more and more things to it. I have made some modifications to it since the class to make it a viable representation for any interview or presentation. I actually used many artifacts from it for my Advanced Placement English Language midterm.

Since I created it, I have shown parts of it to a couple different people, including the vice principal of my high school. I plan to use it for interviews for jobs, scholarships, or any other organization that need a visual representation of what I have accomplished through high school. The main parts of it include my resume, transcript, and artifacts on my other major projects.

It has not been published in any way since I have created it.

I think my finest work was my psychology final project. This project included a ten page paper/report, an experiment and a poster presentation. I really liked this project because it gave me a chance to use multiple skills like presenting and writing. I don't have my poster but my paper is still on an online source. My paper was only shared with my teacher, but my entire psychology class saw my poster. My project was never published or shown in an exhibit , but I was still really proud of it.

My finest work would be designing a Leadership 1 portfolio my Junior year of high school.

This project took me a few months to fully complete. I like this project and felt very rewarded once I was done because of how long it took me and how much effort I put into it. This project was the final exam in my Leadership class, which I received a 98% on.

I do still have this portfolio and it's in the form of a Binder at my house. I have taken out a few pages to use for other projects, but I have everything still together.

I have shown it to many people since I created it. I had to present the portfolio to the Leadership teacher, Mr. Baird as part of my final exam grade. I have also shown it to my sports coaches and everyone from my Leadership class looked over it after it was completed.

No, it has never been published anywhere.

This project took a long time for me to complete and I felt very successful after receiving almost 100% on the final project. I would definitely say this is one of my finest pieces of work and really shows what type of character I posses and it is rewarding to know that I did it by myself.

I consider the presentation during the Next Bright Idea Competition, one of my finest pieces of work. My self, and a another member from my robotics team, had a 3 minute time slot to present our Advanced Underwater Robotics Team to a panel of judges. I like public speaking and am very competitive, so I enjoyed this opportunity.

This presentation was video taped, and has been published on our team Facebook page. Our page has over 900 followers and an even higher reach. This video is still on our page for people to see.

My finest work would be helping to plan the movie night this year in robotics. The movie night was a fundraiser to help is get to Palau. I enjoyed this project because it was working toward a goal that actually meant something, which is rare in most high school classes. The event was all over Facebook, and many people from Stockbridge came to support us.

I would say that my best work in high school would be the T.V. stand that i built in my woodshop class. It showed what i could do without a certain set of rules and what i could accomplish by my self. I still have my stand, it is in good condition and i am still using it in my room. I have shown it to all the people in my family and almost all of the people that come into my house. It was never published or there was never any pictures of it in a magazine.

I think throughout my entire high school my finest piece of work was replacing a Kubota Engine in a Thomas Skid Steer, this project required precise modifications to the existing mounts and intense trial and error, because the new engine was a bigger and more powerful one, it didn't fit properly and required now mounts and wiring. In the end I would say this project was a success because the skid steer worked flawlessly when we were finished.

I think my best piece of work has to be the creation of my adirondack chair. In which that I had created in Mr. Watsons constructing tech class. This project was a really exciting thing to be able to create a reallywell done chair from pieces of lumber. I made this chair during freshmen year, and I still have the chair sitting on our deck, in really good condition still. If any one came over i would have shown them the chair to show off a little bit. It has never been published to the public.

My finest piece of work is the towed camera array that I built for the robotics team. This project required creativity and craftsmanship. My project has been displayed at the robotics movie night, as well as the next bright idea competition. We plan on using it when the Robotics team heads to Palau.

I would say my finest piece of work is my podcast project, I believe this is a great achievement because I had to interview someone who was in a tragic situation and ask particular questions about the event, I then had to organize it into a podcast and present it to the class.

My finest piece of work was an expository essay that I wrote in my Honors English 11 class. I was assigned to write an expository essay, but the topic was left open for us to decide.I decided to write about having divorced parents and what the effects of that are. I still have this paper. It is located on my google docs account. Everyone in my class read and had to respond to my essay to help me make it even better and to fix simple mistakes that I made. It was never published, but it's a piece of writing that I'm really proud of. I ended up receiving an A on the paper, and I was really happy because I put a ton of time and effort into it. My hard work really did pay off.

My finest piece of work was definitely my senior portfolio. It involved a ten minute speech about my experiences over the four years as well as a binder with artifacts that were incorporated into my speech. The speech also had a theme to tie it all together. This took place over this past semester, and I presented it to a panel of three adults in January. This project was for my AP Language course.

I chose my senior portfolio because it was unique. Writing and executing a ten minute speech was something I had never done before, and it was a great experience.

I do still have the speech printed as well as saved on my computer. The binder with artifacts is on a shelf in my room.

While I was in the process of practicing for the speech, I presented it to many of my peers as well as family members. Since I presented the speech on portfolio night, I have presented it to an English 11 class as an example for what they will do next year.

It was not published.

I think my finest work would be a giant painting of a french horn on the wall of my old school. I did it last year for an original twist on a project for my world history class. I chose this project because It took me three weeks to complete. I worked before school for an hour, at lunch for a half hour, and after school for a half hour.

My finest work was a paper that I wrote in English 9, Freshman year. The paper was wrote about my dad. The reason I chose to write this paper was because A, we were assigned to write it but B, we it was something that was really close to me and I would be able to write a lot of detail about it, and I love writing stories with a lot of description. This paper is still available for me to access, it was put in a folder that is kept for my senior portfolio. Sense I wrote the paper I showed my entire class, about 25 students, and also my mom. My paper is a little personal so it was never shared with the public, only between my class and I, and the few other people i decided to read it to.

My finest work was my Activism Project during my Junior year in high school. I was required to do something active within my school and/or community. I still have the powerpoint presentation on my computer and the essay. I chose the topic of bullying for my project because it stood out me and I want to do a positive impact on my school. I presented my project to my teacher and peers in my English class. It wasn't a project that could get published.

I believe that my finest work was my senior portfolio that I presented in January. It was a ten speech speech that I had to present to a panel of three teachers and community members. It also included a binder that was filled with artifacts to go along with the speech. This senior portfolio was required in my AP Language class.

I choose my senior portfolio because it was something that I had never done before and was the biggest project ever that I had done academically. I had never given a speech and I think that it was a great experience overall.

I do still have my speech saved on my computer and I have my actual portfolio at my house.

I have presented my portfolio speech to many people in my AP Language class and many of my family members. I have also presented it to the portfolio panel of three community members.

It was not published.

My best paper was a paper I wrote in English 11. It was about how the shows on MTV glamorize teen pregnancy. I chose to write about it because it was an interesting topic to learn statistics about and there were a lot of facts on it.

Yes I still have it, it is in my English portfolio in Mrs. Martells room.

I read this paper aloud to my whole class and my family.

It isn't published.

I would have to say my biggest project I did through high school is senior portfolio. I didn't choose to do this project it was required senior year to pass senior english and high school. I still have it but haven't looked at it since i presented it to a panel of 3. Since then only my mom has seen it. I believe it was my best work because i knew i had to do it and do well on it. The porfolio part wasn't all that hard. I did that the last night. But the speech was the hardest. Trying not to mess up in front of the panel was difficult as well. It isn't published and never will be.

I believe that my finest piece of work was the paper I had wrote while attending Grass Lake High School my sophomore year, in developmental writing class. The paper I wrote was about not having a father figure in my life. I like this paper because it shows who I am, and where I come from. This papers is still at home in the binder of papers that I save for senior portfolio, on my shelf. I read this paper out loud to the class, in front of new classmates I had never met before, I have also showed my mother, that would be the only people I have shared that paper with. This paper was not published in the school paper, or anything. Just kept to my personal belongings. I think that this paper will be a great catch to senior portfolio next school year.

My finest project was when I was in manufacturing Tech. (Last year) I was assigned to do a project for Mr.Watson for his personal house. I liked this because it was a task I had to do to perfect so it could be used in a everyday use. Mr. Watson still has it, hanging up in his garage. Everyone in my class at the time saw it, and Mr.Watson's family saw it due to the fact it is at their house. It was never published since it was just a job/project I did for him.

My finest work was my senior portfolio. It was a speech about my high school experience over the last four years. The speech required me to speak in front of a panel with a book of artifacts and the speech had to have an overall theme.
I chose this project because I worked incredibly hard on it, harder than any project I have every been assigned to do.
I still have my binder with all of the artifacts that I used and it is located in my school locker.
I have shown a lot of people this project since I created it. I have practiced the presentation many times in front of my classmates, teachers and finally my panel.
My portfolio was never published or anything like that.

My "FINEST" work is my I Believe speech and essay. I created this essay and speech last semester (November) in my English 11 class. I like this paper the best because I recived an outstanding grade on it and I poured out my heart on it. I have my essay still. It is on my school drive and in my portfolio. My whole English 11 class has heard my speech (which is the same as the essay) and a few other family memebers. Sadly it has never been published. My "FINEST" work is also very inspirational. It is of when I forgave my parents for abusing me when I was 10 years old. I think if more people heard my speech/essay they would be inspired by me.

I think my best work would be my English portforlio final project. I did it as a final exam in English 10 last semester. The reason I choose this project is because, I put alot of time and effort into it. I still have it, it's under my bed where I keep all my old binders and folders at. I have showed it to quite a few people it. I've showed mostly all my family, I showed my friends outside the class, and I pressented it to my English class. It was never published, however I got one of the best grades on it out of the whole class. The binder took my awhile to do, but in the end it was worth it.

My best project that i made was my personal baseball bat that i made out of wood. I did it my freshman year in construction technology. This is because it was the first time using my hands to make something. I really like to play baseball so it just went hand in hand. I do still have it. i keep it in my closet, its one of the safest places to keep it. I showed my project to the teacher of the class and other students. I also show my family members. It never was published. I did not take any pictures of it and neither send any to a newspaper or anything.

My finest piece of work was an expository essay that I wrote in my Honors English 11 class about the challenges one faces when experiencing a foreign language. I choose this topic based off a personal experience, traveling to Germany for 6 weeks. I still have this paper on Google docs and on a flash drive. My classmates have read this paper along with my teacher. It was never published, but but i have used it many times for examples in binder portfolios. I thought this was one of my best pieces of writing i have ever written and the hard work really correlated into this piece.

I think that my best project i have ever made was a cardboard boat. I made this in intro to technology my freshman year in highschool. The purpose is to build a boat out of cardboard that can float you and another person while you have to make two laps around a pond. The project was very fun and i learned many new things. The project was never published but most of the school came out to watch our class try to complete two laps without the boat sinking.

My finest paper project would be my English 10 reading and writing portfolio. I did this last semester and was one of my neatest most well done projects. Instead of doing it online I did it in a portfolio.

I didn't really choose this project because it was part of the English 10.

Its kept with my English teacher to save for my senior portfolio.

I have not shown anyone but the English teacher. It Has not been published.

A paper that I wrote in English 11 was an I Believe paper and speech. The class was asked to write about something they believed in and at the end we would send it in to a competition. After thinking that my story wasn't good enough I ended up getting 2nd place. I still have this paper today and it, and it is both digital and anti log. My I believe paper was then printed and the competition that it was sent to uses it as an example.

My finest piece of work is probably my editorial about coaches in my English class this year. I think this was my best piece of work because it was targeted toward the school board and it made me have to increase my vocabulary. It also showed how strongly I felt on this topic. I still have this paper. My uncle has read it and a few others in the community. However, it was never published. I think it was well written and my mom told me to send it to the school board, but I never did.

I believe that my activism project for English 11 was my finest piece of work. I think that this was the finest piece of work, because it was on child abuse, and we went to the middle school and presented it in front of a class. We made them all brouchures and talked to them about what they can do to make try and make this aware to the people around. I do still have this project, and its printed out and on the computer. My english 11 class and some middle schoolers have seen it, but thats it. This has not been published.

1. Please write a brief description of this paper or project. (What it was, when did you do it, and in what class did you do it?)

- The first paper I did for my finance essentials class that I finished this week. I had to write about the top three careers I want in my future.

2. Why did you choose this paper or project? (What do you like about it?)

-It was a required assignment. I liked that it wasn't too challenging.

3. Do you still have it? If yes, where is it and in what form? Like, is it a paper in your closet at home or is it on a disk?

-It's in the "turn in" tray waiting for my teacher to grade.

4. How many people have you shown it to since the time you created it?

-One.

5. Was it ever published, like in the school newspaper, or shown at an exhibit of some kind?

-No.

6. Anything else you want to say about it?

-It's the longest paper I've ever had to write.

My finest project was in my leadership class of freshman year. It was a portfoilo i had to design. It was one of my best projects before doing senior portfolilo and allowed me to learn ways of doing portfoilos better.

I was assigned this project as a final exam and was the best final exam i have ever taken!

I do still have it. It is at my home. In analog form. Meaning i would have to bring it to school or where ever in order for others to see it.

I have shown it to my family and friends. Also i presented it to my teacher in order to get my grade.

It has not been published or anything.

I think doing this project was very helpful in figuring out what i am good at and by doing it for a grade. This project will help me later in life by creating a better resume, or by doing it for a potential job oppurtunity.

The Project I did was my senior portfolio. I did mine with the theme of baseball. I am very proud of this because I had stressed about this since my freshman year when seniors would complain about having to do this assignment and then I realized that I could do it too. I like this project because I was able to talk about something that I was familiar with, my own life. I do not have this anymore because I gave it to Mrs. Feliks. I only showed it to my girlfriend and my parents after I had presented it to the board, but I presented it to my friends beforehand. It was not published but I got a 4 on it and was very proud of what I had done.

The finest work that i've done is a student show case at Career Center. I had to present to a group of people on how to make an elagent food dish. I chose this project because it was required, but I wanted to show people how creative you can be with food. Being that it was food I do not have it anymore but I do still have pictures/videos. I showed it to about 15 people and I really enjoyed doing this presentation.

My finest work done in high school would have had to been done on a trailer we were building as a class in my manufacturing technology class the trailer was built from scrap metal and required a lot of different types of welds. I choose to use this project because it turned me into the direction of the career path I want to take in my future. I could not keep the project for it was to big, and the project was displayed where ever my shop teacher took it.

I believe my finest work during high school would have to be writing and designing pages for Uncaged, the high school newspaper. It can be very time consuming, and if you get behind, you'll put the whole team behind as well. Working on the high school newspaper is like working in a real job. Everyone in that class is a team, that's part of a job anywhere. To have my articles make the cut compared to someone is an amazing feeling. Writing for the newspaper is a competition job as well as becoming an author one day.

I believe that my Careers Paper that I just finished is my best work so far. Since I am a freshman right now, I have not completed many assignments in High School. But, I do believe that this paper came together very well for me. It is saved in my drive on a computer. It is also in paper form, currently being graded. I am sure that I will create many more projects that may exceed this one, but as of right now, it is the best I can offer.

I think that it is a good project though because it helped me plan out my future in life, my future career. Yes i still have it. It is in Mr. Richards' grading tray. It is in great condition. I haven't showed it to anyone yet because I havent got my grade and received it back yet. I plan on showing it to my parents though and possibly my grandparents or whoever else wants to see it. My finest project would have to be my senior portfolio which I did my theme on growth and how I changed in high school. This project was huge to me because I had to give it to a board of teachers and i don't like public speeches so it was able to also let me grow while it helped me. I don't have it on me right now because I'm letting my senior portfolio teacher using it. So far I only showed it to my teachers and nobody else so far.

Two projects that I am most proud of are my leadership portfolio and my senior portfolio. I created my leadership portfolio last year in my first year of leadership class. I created my senior portfolio this year in my AP Language class. These are my proudest projects because they reflect who I have become over my high school career, they also show my creative side. I still have both portfolios. My senior portfolio is at school and my leadership portfolio is at my house. They are both actually portfolios. My leadership binder has been seen by both first year and second year leadership classes. My senior portfolio has been shown to most of my AP Language, some of my friends, and my panelists. My leadership portfolio was shown to leadership one student as an example of how to do the portfolio.

I think my finest work was the guitar stand I built in Construction Technology back when I was a Freshman. I chose to do it because I wanted to build something I could use often, so the stand came naturally. I still have it and it has turned out to be very useful. I keep it clean. It's shown to anyone who looks in my room (it's hard to NOT see).
